Why I Chose The Social Work of Museums

Greetings!

I am Justin Ellis, a second-year masters student in the IUPUI Museum Studies program. I moved to Indianapolis in August 2010 from Des Moines, Iowa where I worked for the Des Moines Art Center as an Exhibition Technician. I decided to pursue a Masters Degree to better understand the skills and roles required to make a museum thrive.

I chose The Social Work of Museums to my growing interest in learning about museum spaces as opportunities for civic growth. I am most interested in learning how these spaces can address social justice needs within a community.
